C. J. Ball
Biography
Born in 1851, Charles James (C.J.) Ball went on to become a scholar and authority in several areas. He was highly knowledgeable in the Hebrew language, which also translated to being able to read, understand, and explain Old Testament texts. Assyriology (the study of ancient Assyria) was another area where Ball gained extensive knowledge and insights. His body of publications reflects his abilities and interests. He wrote a Hebrew primer, a book on Chinese and Sumerian cultures, expositions on Job and Jeremiah, and even a book on the theory of diffraction. Ball died in 1924, but his works remain invaluable for those who study the Old Testament.Wailand Groenendyk
