Biography

French monk William of Saint-Thierry was born around the year 1085. He and his brother, Simon, joined a Benedictine monastery. William became the abbot of the monastery. Studying, praying, seeking to please God, and becoming more spiritual is what he focused on. Writing was also a passion for William throughout his lifetime. He pointed out how others were in error when it came to sacramental theology, Trinitarian theology, and Christology. William wrote extensively about the Song of Solomon as well as faith and prayer. William died in 1148, but his written words continued to impact the 12th century and beyond.
