Biography

Helmut Thielicke earned his doctorate in philosophy as he persevered through some health issues. Born in 1908 in Germany, Thielicke endured Gestapo interrogations and religious persecution throughout the World War. Looking ahead to post war Germany, Thielicke’s planning brought about the establishment of the Evangelical Academy in 1945. He continued preaching and lecturing and after the war he was able to  further other students’ education as a professor, dean and pastor. As a renowned theologian, he was able to meet with leaders such as Billy Graham and Jimmy Carter as well as travel to many parts of the globe as an ambassador for Christ. Several written works continue to be his voice in this world.  At age 77, Theilicke died in 1986 while in Hamburg, Germany.
