Biography

Franz August Otto (F.A.O.) Pieper was born in Poland in 1852. Having immigrated to the United States, Pieper attended Concordia Seminary. Having earned his degree, he became a Lutheran pastor and served as President of the Missouri Synod for the Lutheran Church. For several years, Pieper was on a Missions board and edited Concordia Seminary's faculty journal. His writings include Christian Dogmatics and A Brief Statement, both of which were held in high regard. In addition to writing and editing, he taught theology at his alma mater. At age 78, Peiper passed away in St. Louis, Missouri.
