In Evidence of Christianity, Paley argues for the truth of Christianity by providing his readers with evidence in favor of the Bible's authenticity and the existence of God and miracles. Paley considers many historical and biblical factors; for example, he considers the legitimacy of ancient Jewish prophecy, the fulfillment of prophecies in the New Testament, and the early propagation of Christianity during the first century. One way that Paley argues for the authenticity of the Bible is by citing the significant overlap that is observed in the individual accounts of Christ found in the New Testament. Paley is very diplomatic in his presentation. He considers several objections to the evidence that he has offered. He presents several sides of every issue and resolves disputes by appealing to the strongest body of evidence. As Paley was an influential philosopher, many of the points in this book directly respond to the work of other philosophers of his time. Paley's book does an excellent job of piecing together the facts which form the foundation of the Christian faith.
