Francisco de Osuna
Biography
Francisco de Osuna was born in southern Spain around 1495. As a teenager, he joined the Spanish military. He studied at the University of Seville and later became a Friar. He continued his education at Complutense University, where he focused on the theological thought trends of the day: Scholasticism, Nominalism, and Scotism. As a mystic, de Osuna's writings were widely read. His book The Third Spiritual Alphabet went through several editions. Prayer and meditation were the passions of de Osuna. Osuna's death was noted in an edition of the Fifth Alphabet (1542).Wailand Groenendyk
