Biography

Henri Nouwen was an ordained Catholic priest. Born to Dutch parents on January 24, 1932, Nouwen would become a prolific author and teacher at some of America’s most prestigious schools including Notre Dame, Yale, and Harvard. His books reflect his “theology of the heart”. Speaking and writing through his own personal, spiritual struggles allowed him to connect with others who were struggling. The Return of the Prodigal Son and You Are the Beloved are just two of his many books in which he reaches out to the broken-hearted and broken-spirited to show them the Father’s love in Jesus Christ. Nouwen spent the last ten years of his life as pastor of a Canadian church, L’Arche Daybreak. Nouwen died at the age of 64 of a heart attack.
