Biography

Canadian John Thomas McNeill attended several colleges and universities, including the University of Chicago. For more than 20 years, he taught at the University of Chicago. Besides being a Presbyterian minister, he was a professor at Union Theological Seminary. McNeill edited (with others) the translation of the works of church fathers and reformers such as Luther and Calvin into a modern language that would become part of the Library of Christian Classics. McNeill was a respected Calvin scholar. McNeill died in Chicago in 1975.
