Biography

English-born Joseph Bickersteth Mayor would become not only an Anglican preacher but also an English professor. He married Alexandrina Grote and they raised four children. Topics close to Mayor’s heart were the Greek language and philosophy. He wrote and edited several books. Jude, James, and II Peter were the subjects of three of his works. He was also Classical Review’s editor. Mayor died on November 29, 1916.
