Heather and Snow

George MacDonald, one of the Victorian era novelists, tells the beautiful coming-of-age story in Heather and Snow. Set in the hills of Scotland, MacDonald's main characters are two neighboring girls, Kirsty and Francis, who journey the winding road from childhood to adulthood. The characters deal with poverty, suffering, and disappointment with grace, hope, and perseverance. MacDonald uses the story as a vehicle to convey the Christian values he holds so dear in his own life.
