Concerning Christian Liberty

Concerning Christian Liberty includes a letter Martin Luther wrote to Pope Leo X. The letter is Luther's defense of his actions and an attempt to change Leo's perception of Luther's motives. The treatise on the liberty Christians can experience is the second part of the book. The doctrine of justification by faith is the freedom factor that releases Christians from"works." Luther points to the full and completed work of Jesus Christ as Christian's liberation. This liberation and freedom allows one to serve others with a Christ-like love.
