Lewis was inspired and influenced by mythology, ancient literature, anthropomorphic animal characters, and theology. Many people had a tremendous impact on Lewis' writing, including Beatrix Potter, W.B. Yeats, and J.R. Tolkien. Lewis became a Christian in 1931, which impacted the content of his work. Lewis was born in 1898 and died in 1963.
