Works of John Knox, Vol. 1 (of 6)

by John Knox

Summary

Works of John Knox, Volume I is a collection of Reformation history edited by David Laing. In this volume, the influence of the Reformation on Scotland is recounted. Each of the several chapters focuses on an individual who took part in the Reformation in one way or another. Patrick Hamilton, Henry Forrest, Norman Lesley, Walter Myln, and George Wishart are just some names of those who shaped history and some who paid the ultimate price for change. Artifacts such as Mary Queen of Scots's letter to her cousin begging him to recant his Reformation stance are here for history. So much more is recorded here for those who want to see the Reformation through a reformer's or persecutor's eyes. One can't but feel enormous respect for the fearless way so many stood steadfast for what they believed. This body of work was published in 1895.
