Biography

Italian-born and raised, Joachim of Fiore was one of the great theologians and philosophers of medieval times. His pilgrimage to the Holy Land cemented his desire to be pious. He immersed himself in the scriptures, exploring their depths and applications. Joachim was especially interested in and wrote about the book of Revelation and the apocalypse. Fiore expressed the idea of three separate ages, one for each member of the Trinity. This idea created some controversy for Joachim. Joachim died in the year 1202. His life's work is the subject of several books and, most recently, a film.
