Outspoken Essays were written by William Ralph Inge, and most were published individually before being compiled in this book. Inge expounds and offers commentary on a variety of topics relevant to the twentieth century. The birth rate, patriotism, Roman Catholic modernism, and the future of the English race are just four of the eleven issues sharing the covers of this book. Published in 1920, this work is one of nearly three dozen books that Inge authored, not to mention several years' worth of columns published in the Evening Standard.
