Temple

The Temple is a series of poems by George Herbert, a priest and a deacon of the Church of England. There are 164 poems in this work that are divided into three sections. The first section generally reflects on the wisdom of the world and personal faith. The largest group of poems is the second section, which evokes an emotional response to life, while the final section deals with warnings and prophecies. In addition to the poems, there are indexes for topics and biblical references found in the poems.
