Biography

Edwin Warren Hatch was born in England in 1835; nonconformist parents raised him. At age 17, Hatch was baptized and became a member of the Church of England. He enrolled at Pembroke College and earned a B.A. and an M.A. He was ordained as a Deacon and later a Priest in the Anglican Church. His most well-known legacy is the hymn,"Breath on Me Breath of God." He was employed as a professor, a principal, and a lecturer during his lifetime. Besides writing hymns, Hatch wrote several books before he died in 1889.
