A Vindication of Some Passages in the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Chapters of the History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire by Edward Gibbon is described in the rather lengthy title. His much-acclaimed history of the Roman Empire included the impact of Christianity. Chapters 15 and 16 were focused on this impact. Some blame Christianity for Rome's fall from greatness. This work was addressed to those accusers. He defends not only the"evidence" but his historical account regarding Christianity and the Roman Empire's demise.
