Biography

Samuel Cox was born in England in 1826. He went from being an apprentice on the harbor docks to studying to become a Baptist minister. He led his first congregation in 1852. His preaching career was cut short due to throat issues, so he began to write and edit literature. He began a journal called The Expositor, which was published monthly. He wrote some 30 books and edited several more. Among his published works are The Secret Life, The Quest of the Chief Good, The Resurrection, and commentaries on Job and Ruth. Cox died on March 27, 1893, in Hastings, England.
