Biography

David Clarkson was an English minister in the Puritan church. Under the Uniformity Act of 1662, Clarkson was among the many ejected ministers. For nearly twenty years Clarkson was moving from place to place. In 1682 Clarkson settled in an independent church located in London. Clarkson pastored there until he died in 1686. Many of his sermons and writings were published in a three-volume set titled, The Practical Works of David Clarkson (1864-65). These volumes include The Conviction of Hypocrites, Of Christ’s Intercession, and Public Worship to Be Preferred before Private. Select Works of the Reverend and Learned David Clarkson has also been published.
