Magic: A Fantastic Comedy

Magic: A Fantastic Comedy is a three-act play written by Gilbert Keith Chesterton and published in 1913. There are seven main characters, including"The Duke." The setting is limited to Duke's home, which is located on a wooded plantation. The action takes place in the evening with a night mist hanging in the air. Under the guise of magic, faith and reality are addressed through the Duke's niece, who is focused on fairies, and his nephew, who is fascinated with the magician's tricks. Perhaps Chesterton's experience with the occult influences this play.
