Biography
Paulus Stephanus Cassel was born in Prussia in 1821 into a Jewish family. Through his friends and studies, particularly Israel's history, he became a Christian. His career included many facets. Not only was he a professor, editor, and lecturer, but also held political office in the Prussian House of Representatives. His greatest passion and mission was bringing the gospel to the Jews. He had to deal with a prevalent attitude of anti-Semitism in society. His legacy includes several poems, plays, hymns, and books. Cassel died in 1892.Wailand Groenendyk
