Biography

George Arthur Buttrick dedicated his life to teaching and preaching. Born in England in 1892, Buttrick attended Victoria University, located in Manchester. He immigrated to the United States and pastored congregations in Illinois, Vermont, and New York. One claim to fame for Buttrick is that he officiated the marriage of President Donald Trump's parents. He was a teacher/lecturer at no less than eight institutions of higher learning. He shared his skills and insights on preaching and Christian Morals. In between these efforts, he found time to author/edit several works, including Guide to Preaching the Gospel, The Parables of Jesus, and The Interpreter's Dictionary of the Bible: An Illustrated Encyclopedia. Buttrick died on January 23, 1980
