Fifteen Sermons Preached at the Rolls Chapel.

Fifteen Sermons Preached at the Rolls Chapel (1827) is a collection of sermons written and first published by Joseph Butler in 1726. Noted in the Preface, these fifteen sermons were selected on their merit and not because they are connected topically or by shared scripture references. However, several of the sermons are part of a series. For example, there are four sermons on loving our neighbor and God. Butler was a renowned theologian in England. He was also an Anglican bishop in various cities, including Durham and Bristol. Butler was an apologist for the Christian faith during a time when Deism was becoming a popular way of thinking. As a philosopher, he could evaluate the various philosophies of the 18th Century and respond to their application to life and religion.
