Notes on the New Testament: Explanatory and Practical; Hebrews (1951) by Albert Barnes is a thorough commentary on this first of the General Epistles. Barnes writes an introduction to Hebrews, offering the reader insights and background information to put the book into context. Barnes deals with the obvious questions of authorship and audience. The commentary has two or three verses at the top, with the remainder of the page being dedicated to the background, explanation, and application of the cited verses. The commentary also has many beautiful black and white engravings.
