Summary
The Westminster Shorter Catechism was the work of the Westminster Assembly, which met in London, England. This assembly was made up of theologians from Scotland and England and met for several months in 1646 and 1647. Like the Heidelberg Catechism, the Westminster Shorter Catechism is written in question-and-answer format. There are 107 questions and statements of doctrine. The original intent was to develop a catechism to help educate the church's children. Presbyterian churches have adopted this catechism along with some Congregationalists.
