Nicene Creed

The words"I believe…" start a significant statement of faith better known as a creed. Various churches have adopted one or more creeds as the biblical foundation upon which they are built. The Nicene Creed was written to clarify That God the Father and God the Son are one. As"one," they are both eternal. At the time of writing of the Nicene Creed, a man named Arius was teaching that Christ came after the Father and, therefore, was not eternal. The Creed states that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are eternal and equal. The First Council of Nicaea met in 325 and adopted the Creed. The Creed was revised in 381 but kept the name of the Nicene Creed.
