Synod of Dort

by Anonymous

Summary

In 1618, followers of the Reformed faith from around the world met for a synod in Dordrecht, Netherlands. One of the goals of the synod was to form a response to and defense against Arminianism. To that extent, the Canons of Dort were written and adopted. There are five main sections with a concluding statement of current heresies to be rejected. The five sections are often summarized with T.U.L.I.P, which stands for"Total Depravity,""Unconditional Election,""Limited Atonement,""Irresistible Grace," and"Perseverance of the Saints."
