Athanasian Creed

by Anonymous

Summary

In 1988, the Christian Reformed Synod adopted the Athanasian Creed. The creed was written in the 4th or 5th century and named for Athanasius, who was renowned for his defense of the doctrine of the Trinity. Not only does the Athanasian Creed lay out the biblical teachings on the Trinity, but it also addresses doctrine regarding Christ's divinity and humanness. Originally written in Latin, this is an English translation. Besides the CRC, this creed has become part of the Roman Catholic Church, Lutheran Church, and Anglican Church.
