Barber, Henry Hervey
BARBER, HENRY HERVEY: Unitarian;
b. at Warwick, Mass., Dec. 30, 1835. He was educated
at Deerfield (Mass.) Academy and Meadville
Theological School (1861). He held successive
pastorates at Harvard, Mass. (1861-66), Somerville,
Mass. (1866-84), and Meadville, Pa. (1884-90),
while from 1884 to 1904 he was professor of
philosophy and theology at Meadville Theological School.
Since 1904 he has been professor emeritus. He
is a member of the American Historical Association
and of the American Economic Association, and from
1875 to 1884 was editor of the Unitarian Review.
