Ballad of the White Horse

The Ballad of the White Horse by Gilbert Keith (G.K.) Chesterton is a fictional account of Alfred the Great’s defense of his royal realm. In the same way other leaders saw visions that led to victory, Alfred had a vision of Mary that inspired a victory. The book is often seen as an allegory of the Christian’s fight against evil and power of faith.
