The Saviour bids us watch and pray,

Through life’s brief, fleeting hour,

And gives the Spirit’s quickening ray

To those who seek his power.

Maintain a warrior’s strife;

Help, Lord, to hear thy voice to-day;

Obedience is our life.

For soon the hour will come

That calls us from the earth away,

To our eternal home.

4 O Saviour, we would watch and pray,

And hear thy sacred voice,

And walk, as thou hast marked the way,

To heaven’s eternal joys.
