Luke 11:27.
G. N. Allen.
Must Simon bear the cross alone,
And all the world go free?
No, there’s a cross for every one,
And there’s a cross for me.
Yes, there’s a cross on Calvary,
Through which by faith the crown I see;
To me ’tis pardon bringing;
O that’s the cross for me!
2 How happy are the saints above,
Who once went mourning here!
But now they taste unmingled love,
And joy without a tear.
For perfect love will dry the tear,
And cast out all tormenting fear,
Which round my heart is clinging;
O that’s the love for me.
3 We’ll bear the consecrated cross,
Till from the cross we’re free;
And then go home to wear the crown,
For there’s a crown for me.
Yes, there’s a crown in heaven above,
The purchase of my Saviour’s love,
For me at his appearing;
O that’s the crown for me!
4 The saints shall hear the midnight cry;
The Lord will then appear,
And virgins rise with burning lamps,
To meet him in the air;
For there’s a home in heaven prepared,
A house by saints and angels shared,
Where Christ is interceding;
O that’s the home for me!
